Terrain A narrow and quite hard going path with lots of small rises and
falls as the path goes along the cliff.
Start at the car park for Whitby Abbey. Look for the direction post for Cleveland Way, Robin Hoods Bay 6 1/2 miles (facing the sea). From here the route is well defined and sign posted - so you can't go wrong!
Following the footpath along the cliff-tops you soon come to a caravan park overlooking Saltwick Bay. You have to walk through this for a short while. There is a site on camp that you walk past so you can top up on essentials for your walk!
Carry on along the cliff-top footpath. A bit further on from the Caravan Park you will come across the Fog Horn Station and Lighthouse.
From here, walk around the back of the lighthouse, and continue along the path all the way to Robin Hoods Bay!
